Stuck pixels and lcd screen failure question
Hello all.
I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop, its screen has some marks on it. They look like fingerprint smudges and can't be wiped off. The one has a few pixels stuck near it, other times they are unstuck. Is this a hardware failure or do I have to do something like a degauss. I know you cant degauss lcds, but is there a reset of some sort?
Thanks,

Sorry mate, sounds very much like physical damage to me?...if it is still under warranty...take it back. Otherwise I gues you will have to live with it. This is an LCD screen, cost me a fortune, but it has a three year dead pixel warranty...........I guess it cost about one third to a half of your entire Dell unit?
Good Luck

yup...looks like you are stuck with it unless the warranty is still valid. some warrantys cover stuck pixelsabove a certain percentage of the screen. if it is too little then it is deemed as still good condition. you will have to check the warranty. as for replacing it without a warranty, it would not make any sense to replace as the lcds cost a bomb especially for notebooks.
Just have to live with it until you can get a new notebook.
