    sockets in c++?

    hey. I've been looking through the web for tutorials on using sockets in c++. I know a lot of c++ already but I just want to learn how to use sockets and apply them to make security programs like port scanners and mabee some things like chat programs.. c++ would just be so much more usefull to me if I could have it interact with another pc so any links or book titles would be appreciated

    \"If computers are to become smart enough to design their own successors, initiating a process that will lead to God-like omniscience after a number of ever swifter passages from one generation of computers to the next, someone is going to have to write the software that gets the process going, and humans have given absolutely no evidence of being able to write such software.\" -Jaron Lanier

    Here's a link, by the way, is there a specific operating system that you are targeting?
