SpyBot - Has anyone tried this?

OK, I have a task that I figured I'd run by you folks before I reinvent the wheel.

We have a large spyware issue and of course I have been given the wonderful task of remediating it. SpyBot S&D is by far the best spyware tool (in my opinion) for this job.

My question is, has anyone ever tried to use it with scripting or run it from a network share with simultanious users hitting it at the same time? We have an AD infrastructure with only the host scripting tools that come with MS products.

If nobody has given this thought or a try, I think I'm going to lead the initiative with the fine folks who develop the application.

It seems that SpyBot "out of the box" is not very good with CoolWeb stuff?

OK, I answered my own question (I had to because the man was coming down on me). You can script and share out SpyBot S&D. You can even edit the conf file to set how the app behaves. It also can be run simultaniously so there is no file lock issues to worry about. WooHoo!! Now, off to start thousands of scans.....

If anyone else is after this info, I'd gladly post a how-to on this as it is a *very* good idea to nix all the spyware on your network. Imagine how much traffic spyware can generate on a network with 60,000 nodes??!!

We don't have near that many nodes, but anything you post will be greatly appreciated. I'd like to be able to use SpyBot in that way. I don't necessarily want to install it on every box, but run it as a diagnostic, when I think there may be a problem.

We're also trying to figure out a way that our state agency can "donate" to the SpyBot crew.

Well, having recently installed both Spybot S&D and Ad-aware on about 30 of our most active web users' machines, I'd love to be able to run things centrally, so thanks in advance for giving us a walk-through!

Nihil! Thanks for that link, I've failed to eradicate the CoolWebSearch spyware on one particular machine before, now I know why and hopefully that guy's CWShredder utility has dealt with it for good.

Awesome...I would love to zap all that ad/spyware crap off our machines programmatically!
