    Webcam for Linux

    Hi,

Does anyone here use a webcam with Linux? I am trying to find a Linux-compatible webcam, and I thought I'd get a few opinions. Some people say that Logitech cams are Linux-compatible, but their system requirements mention only Windows and Mac operating systems.

Is there any Linux webcam you know of?

Just to add... I have used the Creative WebCam III (USB) with Red Hat 8 and 9.
    Works fine.

I have been using a Logitech QuickCam and it has been working great for me for over a year now. You may want to try the GQcam package also. It lets you mess with the RBG, and brightness in real time. Have fun!

Definitely stay away from pencams, though. They're trendy looking, but unless you have absolute perfect lighting (direct sunlight or a BRIGHT light in your face) the quality of the image is horrible.

You are not kidding. I bought one because it was cheap and it turns out that cam had a serious case of walleye vision. Every image looked like I was taking a picture from the reflection of my face in a spoon or something and they where grainy and washed out. But, what do you expect for under twenty dollars. = /
