    Samba 3.0 performance

I just upgraded my home server from samba 2.x (whatever was the last one) to version 3.0.0-2 and I have found it to be MUCH faster!

Has anyone else upgraded? Have you noticed the change in speed?

I even had the hdparm tweaks in there before... trying to speed it up... but it seems that I no longer need that.

Oh, if anyone wanted to know what the new functionality of 3.0 ... view this.

I just read a great article about how Samba 3.0 killed Windows 2003 in speed tests as a file/print server. 2.5 times faster to be exact!

NeuTron: Thanks for that article. I have to agree. It is really fast. I was amazed when I first upgraded. I have all my mp3s ripped from my CDs and the directory list comes up really fast...

I've never used 2k3, so I can't compare it. I know its def. faster than my 2k box... but the specs are a little different. But not by much.
