If your router has a built in firewall that's a start. Then I would download and install all windows critical updates. Also look into some of the intrusion detection systems such as snort. If he threatened you in an email or something print it out for evidence and call his isp and maybe they will disconnect him. Also, turn disable all unnecessary services. You could even do some vulnerability testing on your comp. Other than that I'm not sure what else you can do, but I'm sure someone else knows. I would bet that this person is nothing to worry about though.

Most times when someone says they are going to hack your computer. It usually means they are full of **** and they are just going to sit around and make a couple of flame posts about you on some unheardof message board. Keep in mind that hack is a very very general term. So either the guy is cocky about his skills, or figures that you will just curl up and cry and beg you not to "hack" his system. But follow all the rules that heretic mentioned, or if you are really nervous, just disconnect yourself from the net (yes, actually unplug it) when he says he is going to do it. Dont download email attachments.

Thats true. thats what i thought at the start. But he started to sound like he knew what he was doing. He sound like a real idiot though. But i got all the updated and i'm working on snort so i should be fine.

I'm not a hacker by any means, although I wish I was, but this sounds like major Skiddie action. I do not believe that a real cracker(evil hacker, I believe that's the correct terminology), except perhaps a psychotic (Silence of the Lambs), would go around saying that ****. They would just hack your computer, and **** it up really bad, and perhaps let you know, via your hacked computer who did it (like a screen that says, "<SN> Owned your Soul."). My thoughts. In conclusion, I would not take it to seriously and just walk away.

First and foremost, who in the right mind would actually tell their going to "hack" a particular person? Here is a suggestion; laugh in their face. If anything you know who to cognovit!

On a side note, don't worry, it's a mind trick.

Info just get a good Firewall, and make sure you got a good AV, and a good Anti-Trojan and you should be good. Even if he does get your IP and gets to you. With those you should be pretty good. Now if you want to be an idiot, Just call his ISP that will end it. Most people shut up after they have lost there ISP or he will get really pissed either way. You get a good, reply. If he gets really pissed most people do stupid things when there mad, they don't take the same precautions they would when they weren't mad.

As for this guy, actually doing something, Don't know don't know the guy.

    Pick up Registry Prot also.

But, oh well PM me if you need more.

For better or worse, the internet has all types of people. You cant just tell someone out because they lower the total IQ of people online by 1 million. I like this because it gives a lot of people a place to learn, do homework, or just be entertained (not talking about all your 10 gig porn collections ). This person has obviously pushed the limits of what should happen. A small call to their ISP, as previously mentioned, will fix the problem. Or, you could just wait and probably never be bothered by them again. If they try to hack your computer, then hit them with the book so ****ing hard they'll never wake up from the financial and possibly prison nightmare.
