You can download and install and setup ur own proxy at home but i dont know how you would want it to be anonymous. It would still have the IP that your ISP gives you, being the outside part of your internet connection. A proxy is like a firewall in a sense, so you would be able to set a rule and configure to let your inbound remote connection from work to let you in. I dont know if you have a static IP there or what, so i guess you just could just allow all inbound connections to that specific port you connect through then password protect it. I use Remote Adminstrator, which works great. I'm bettin you already have a remote tool though, so i guess you could download WinGate or now they've upgraded to WinRoute, to be ur proxy. Just do a search and find some downloadable proxies. Do you have a designated computer to be a proxy or do u just want the software proxy on ur home computer?

Depends on what the operating system is. If you are using linux, I'd say to use Squid.

I was thinking of using Deerfields products..

I am using windows machines...XP right now and was not going to have a dedicated machine just for this..i was going to use my home pc that I use everyday..

But basically at work we are going through a firewall and proxy..So to surf secure, I wanted to remotely patch into my home computer(running a proxy server), and have that machine strip all the footprints of my work machine.

I have a T1 at work and a cable modem at home so hoping I wasn't going to loose to much speed..

As for the IP being Anon...I worded that wrong..I don't mind that work sees my IP(at home) I just didn't want them to see any other sites I might be visiting @ work.

Basically I wanted to run an anonomizer proxy from home...

Hope this is a little more detailed...All help is appreciated..

    Hi ALIENBOY,

I must admit that I find your requirements slightly "extra-terrestrial"

I can inderstand wanting to be bug free at home, but at work as well?.....are you actually saying that you do not trust the competence of your work SysAdmins?.....if this is correct then please advise us, I, for one am confused.

What are your generic security requirements? if you tell us those, we can probably help better?

    Cheers

r u sure u just dont wanna search porn or something and dont want the work place to see it? i'm just curious...but yeh WinRoute is a deerfield product and has quite a lot of features to use...so look over it good. i'm not suggesting doin this but winroute has a price...so look on the net or something for a crack if u dont wanna pay...not sayin u should do that but its an easy option. As for goin through 1 proxy to another, u might wanna use something like httpport or a routing tool...go on google and search for httpport or httport...cant remember. It should let u do that though.

assuming that you have a static IP address back at your place, you can manually set it to be your proxy server IP on your browser. to do this you have to install a proxy server in your home PC (on your case an anonymous proxy server which you can download readily from free internet sites, can do a search on google for some free download sites) just take note of the port and IP address coz this will be the IP adress that you will set on your browser at your office. you can check for connectivity by pinging your home PC's IP address from your terminal with internet connectivity in your office, if there's a reply then you're good to go, if there's none then it's going to be a problem, need to have a talk with yer internet provider if your home IP is static and global, not just some NAT IPs.

having a static and global IP is a must if you will have to connect from your office to your home (assuming that you will use the internet as a mean of connecting) or if you want you can set-up a RAS server on your home and connect to it via dial-up which will be a different story and configuration. I hope this helps
