hrhr...
that pub is running since 1 year or longer time and seems to have
only one cause to exist.
do you think its an authentical file?
so if it is...will the administrator or the school get in trouble?
or better asked:
what will happen if me or you forgot to disable the anonymous ftp
and would be used like my example?
I'm sry how i started the thread, but maybe its a way to get in discussion about this theme

Sorry, I don't really understand the question.
Ionworx do a Borland copy protection product:
www.ionworx.com/icelicense.html
I think that it lets you distribute stuff "on trial"
"Iconworx" is a German media/development company I think?
Is there some confusion here?
Cheers

I wouldn't worry about anything, all ftp servers log your ip(I think). If there is an ftp server and you were able to connect to it that is not illegal, especially if you didn't have to guess a username and password to get to it. I don't think that anonymous ftp actually makes you anonymous, it just lets you log in with no username and password. I could be wrong though. So if there is an ftp server that doesn't require a username and password, it is probably because they want anyone in the world to be able to download their stuff so have at it.

you're right heretic....all anonymous does is allow anyone to log in. all they need for a password is their email address...or any email address actually. The FTP server will still log your IP, if the admin has logging enabled
use a proxy if you can to hide your IP.
although...could you use a proxy to FTP? I would think so, but im not posistive on that one.
