Folder that will not die...
I created a folder in dos and I decided to name it NULL, you know ALT 255. I now am unable to delete it! In explorer it is there and even in dos it is there, but it has a blank space for it's name. This isn't as easy as changing the attributes on it from read only to not...can someone help me?

hmm have you tried rd "Alt+255" quoted like that? I don't understand why that wouldn't work. Or even unquoted... but anyhow I would try to undo it from dos if explorer won't let you.

Hey there!
Remember that if you created it in DOS, you have to kill it from the bottom up, not top down!
What I mean is, you have to delete all the files first?
Hope this helps, if not, come back
Cheers

I have tried and both ways it tell me the file is not there. I cannot move it or do anything with it. It is the wierdest thing. In DOS I entered rmdir c:\mydocu~1\and then for the name ALT 255 and it says the file is not there, any more suggestions?

rmdir
or maybe
del *
or just send it all to recycle bin and weed out the files you want.

setup an msftpsvc on your local machine pointing to the parent dir where you created it
connect via flashfxp or something with a raw cmdline
there enter
rmd ./ / /
that should work

do this ren hello
then type del hello
where somewhere in between ren and hello you typed alt+255.
That worked for me. But I had to delete the renamed folder from explorer because it wouldn't work from dos.

I decided to name it NULL, you know ALT 255
i guess i dont know...ALT+225 gives you the 'ß' symbol, NOT the null symbol which can be achieved by typing ALT+000 (nothing will even happen if you type it). Anyways, maybe when you typed in the name you didnt have Number lock on or something. i dont know...stupid post...sorry if you took your time to read this i just really wanted to point out that alt+225 isnt the NULL character.
Support your right to arm bears.
^^This was the first video game which i played on an old win3.1 box
