    depends what you wanna edit,

    You can use it for modding games, edtting config files and programs.

    One example of hex editting is replacing the start button, with something like steve or what ever, thats a really odd think to change it to but I couldnt think of a better word/ name.

    Hex is only representing the data in base to the 16 instead of base 10 which is decimal.

    base 16 is used in programming becuase writing a memory address in base 16 tends to make things look less confused, and base 2 (binary) would be very difficult to interpret.

    decimal is the way that we see things, cos this is then converted to ascii codes, which is what we see and is represented here

    why u want to go for hex editing. If u want to go for hex editing a program beeter u get the assemply coding (disassemble) the source code and then try to edit. Win32 dis asm will do a good job. u can and must read the documentation with win32dasm to knoew abt hex editing and disassemble etc.
    guru@linux:~> who I grep -i blonde I talk; cd ~; wine; talk; touch; unzip; touch; strip; gasp; finger; mount; fsck; more; yes; gasp; umount; make clean; sleep;

    Who needs to learn assembly? Haxinme990, just by the name of this guy and the major BS of this thread I'd say hes just another little kid looking to go out "haxin" and ****ing tagging his name into ****. Like most kids he'll want to just skip the details and the learning parts then just do whatever it is he wants to do. Look pal its easy, even a monkey can do it just find a text string then change it...

    For example many hex editors will display like my example... not litterally but just go get hex workshop or open debugger from command promt or hell just use a text editor or something and you'll find out what im talking about.

    || Random letters and numbers || T.e.x.t.

    Whenever you run across familiar words that you may have seen in the program just change the god damned text and wham... its hex edited. For example T.e.x.t. can be changed to T.S. . . or S.p.e.c. . or whatever the f.u.c.k.n. hell you want.

    I've also made some example hello world programs. The first is just a little program I made its a really shity hello world program. The other one I think I named it ShitApp.exe you should be able to edit the caption & change the 'company' name and blah blah blah it should be much more easier to do than my other program.

    No need to be a shithole Specialist. First of all, im just trying to understand how things work. Second of all i got my name from my mom's, my brother's, and my dad's middle names(henderson, alexander, and xavier), the i is for invinvible(which i am until i die), the nme is for 'enemy'(which i have many of), and 990 stands for the fact that im 13. And third of all, i am prepared to take any measures necessary to learn all that i can, no matter how hard it is or how long it takes, so i really dont appreciate you saying that im just another little kid who just skip the details and the learning parts then just do whatever it is he wants to do.

    |The|Specialist is so mean yadda yadda yadda... blah blah blah... I've heard it a thousand times before and each time I somehow manage to give a quick answer such as the one in this thread. I even gave some example programs to mess up. So what now? Now ya wanna get ****ing friendly with me or something now? Gezz...
