My bank uses IIS4, should I worry?

    Hi,

I'm a bit of a newbie, but I noticed that the bank I bank with seems to use IIS4 as their web server.

    See http://www.nacos.com.au and https://www.nacos.com.au.

Should I worry about security? What are the issues?

    VBR, varange

Questions you should ask yourself,do you feel you are at risk,or have you been the victim of fraud due to your bank?, are your transactions trouble free?, If you have any doubts, change your bank. My bank seems to use 1st Class arseholes as their tellers, now that is a security risk

varange - if you could just let us know your bank name, account number and password, we will be able to help you.

If you are particularly worried about fraudulent access to your account, then do as jm459 suggests, and enquire what software your possible new banks use. Or explore their sites first. Ask yourself what you need from your bank, and find a bank that provides it ( as close as you can ).

Or ask whether you need online banking? ( I am guessing the answer is yes, but if not, stay off it ). If so, there is always some risk. Ensure your personal security is in place ( i.e. don't tell us your bank details, and apply standard password security approaches. Check your statements, log when you are online.

Any bank system can be hacked into very easily if your personal security measures are not in place. The software being used is only one part of this.

Do they do online abnking, if so switch banks, if not find out if the web servers are attached to the rest of the network (they shouldn't be) if so switch banks.
