My next year at university is Java orientated, so im just getting a head start and have heard that the book i mentioned is a good start.
So i think ill stick with that, thanks very much.

yeap..most intro to programming I classes are now java oriented...atleast the one at my university are...in highschool i took internet academy with oracle and did java, sql, and database design so i got a headstart ...i have read the sams books it good and is great for reviewing for a test the main concepts...i recommend you try 'big java' it a huge book on just about every java concept you can think of.

easy find on p2p if you don't mind copyright infringement, sams does make good books, their shell scripting one is very well written.
