If you want a good (used it myself) scanner that wont even show up on the proccess list you have Invisilog- http://www.webattack.com/get/invisilog.html (but it's not freeware).
A free/good one is Perfect Keylog http://www.webattack.com/get/perfectkl.html, but i don't know if it will show in the proccess list or not.

a Good Keylogger
Yes, i totally agree with MsMittens that there maybe many legal reasons with him for the keylogger as there are so many companies working online providing very good keyloggers, as they are earning good and they have thier legal presence.
Like the one mentioned down is also a Parental Control kind of keylogger to notice your kids online activity in different chat rooms , websites and all just to be sure that your kid is not invilved in any illegal activity online.

Also check out the logics they provided on thier website for thier product

You need to do some logging research, I think he maybe has some confusion about what a key logger is... A key logger could be used to track local network activity for say like a business that wants to know what sort of activities transpire on a particular terminal or workstation. As for a honeypot the ability to invoke various types of logging are already in tact with *nix. You may want to try and find a package for your pot that has advanced logging abilities. Many folks just write their own and do what is known as a sift log. This is done by creating a data management system that has the ability to log all access activity. You could use xoop, postnuke or php-nuke etc. Many just modify pre-written data management systems to include advanced logging and file access reports.
Anyone with me on this or am I way off base here?

Well I want a keylogger because I want to see if there could possibly be someone attacking me, and going through my files and etc. It's not for malicious purposes. I'm the only one who uses this computer, so I'm not trying to steal passwords or anything.
