How to Choose Laptop?
Hi all, I'm Planning to buy a laptop in range of $1000. But i don't really expert in choosing laptop since we can't customise it by ourself. So, i need your idea what brand of laptop do you recomm me? how to choose? what processor? PIV, Centrino, Celeron, or AMD XP? What makes Centrino better than PIV? Since we know PIV is faster than Centrino, if we refer to Clock speed. What ghrapic chipset do you recomm me? ATI or NVIDIA?
So far I have a few choices;
Packard Bell
AMD XP 2400+
Integrated Graphic (Shared Mem)
256MB DDR
NEC
Centrino 1.4Ghz
Integrated Graphic(Shared Mem)
256MB DDR
BenQ
Centrino 1.4GHz
ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 32MB
256MB DDR
HP/Compaq
PIV 2.2GHz
Ati Radeon Chipset 64MB
256MB DDR
If Centrino 1.4GHz vs. PIV 2.4GHz, which one is faster, or in term of stability, can run many programs at one time. Why ?
Thanks all...... I need your help....

cross posting won't help.. it sometimes makes it worse.. I'd stick with the thread in hardware.

and I'd forget all those and try and get a sony or IBM.. you might have to add a few bucks 'tho

One piece of advice.
Stick with namebrands. It will pay off in the long run.

toshiba's are good too.. I'd stay away from dell's, P bell's .. hp's might be ok (but i doubt it), NEC's are still questionable.. maybe ok.. really.. with a laptop, it's always a question of upgradablity, reliability, and the companies history of support.
My overall choice would be an IBM.. for support and reliability..
but I've always secretly wanted a sony vaio.. and sony has come a long way.
