He has to be doing something else... such as the firewall, disabling of other services, etc.

    What am I missing?
We're missing the same thing. I know for a FACT that the reg. tweak is the only thing he modifies.... Maybe it's because we're on the same network segment? BTW, what does AFAIK mean?

    Thanx,

As Far As I Know. And I think if you were on a diff network segment then that would be more of a cause than being on the same network segment.

I still don't get it... do you get the same thing by enabling it on your PC? I sure don't...

Anyone else have any insight on what he claims is happening? I say "claims" because I can't reproduce it... I have this setting on all my hosts and I can see them all just fine.

Do you get the same thing with you try to scan with nessus? But instead of a defualt scan... disable the ping. It will scan even though it doesn't "see" anything there.
Quitmzilla is a firefox extension that gives you stats on how long you have quit smoking, how much money you\'ve saved, how much you haven\'t smoked and recent milestones. Very helpful for people who quit smoking and used to smoke at their computers... Helps out with the urges.

Try nmap -p0 ip . That *might* just work.

His box finally showed up when I disabled Ping and increased some of the time delays in my various scanners . Thanks for the tips! However, round 3 has already started, consequently, I can't ask him any more questions until Sunday.

Ok, so now I can finally see him, however, his box is completely non-responsive! No matter what type of probe I throw at him, his box refuses to give me any kind of reply... I've never seen anything like it! Eh, I got a week to figure it out. However any suggestions would be appreciated.

phishphreek80 - No, I didn't get the same result when I tweaked my 'puter... I don't know if he did something he's not telling me or if he did something by accident which would allow him to go stealth. I think it's the latter since he's usually an honest guy.
