if they are post whoring ...or doing one liners...or even double posting..(shut up memory)...then you gotta flame a little bit..just to get them back in line...
but other than that..being nice is a good idea, make the newbs comfortable, to an extent.
in 2 words...tough love
cheers
Sorry man but essentially I would still consider you a newbie, as for post whoring your as guilty as anybody else.
And NFG thats Rioter's way of saying he wants to have you typing children.

In reality, this all boils down to common sense and just general respect for others. While respect is generally earned, there should be at least some "civility" to start with. IMHO, it's hard to "hate" someone just after one post (even if it's laden with curse words and such). If it's continual even after polite or straightforward requests of not doing a particular "bad" activity then the gloves are off.
It doesn't mean we hand-hold newbies. It just means we treat them as we expect them to treat us: as equals and as humans (last time I checked we're all human --- 'cept me! I'm just a cartoon action figure!) We expect newbies to read the FAQ. I would think that newbies would expect us to understand that they are new and don't understand all the finesse and finer points of our community (which is of it's own creation).
Anyways, some rambling thoughts between exam markings... back to swishing with a red pen!!
