Government bodies in Israel and Texas are starting to shift from Microsoft Office to open-source alternatives, driven by budget pressures.

Hehe, that's quite nice/impressive. I'm glad to see how everyone, even the government, is beginning to see how overpriced some software out there is. I admit, MS Office really is a stellar program/suite, but it's just too darn expensive, period.

I heard they want to charge people per hour with the next version. You can use it only when you are online, kind of leasing it. And pay for how long you use it. I think most companies will stay with Office XP and use it.

Good for Open Office. I've become quite a fan of it and think it offers an excellent alternative to MS Office. I still find font issues between PowerPoint and Impress (Open Office's Presentation software) but other than that, they are almost identical.
