I have heard the term spyware and Trojan used for different things.
I think that spyware is when a person can see the files on you computer but cant cause much harm to them.
Trojanís are a programs that look like one thing but are actually another.
I am not sure about most of this so correct me if I am wrong. Also sorry is this was posted in a different place.

spyware = tracking software used by companies to profile the users
trojans = remote access software used by scriptkiddies to gain access to your machine
