Online Linux/Unix System For Use?
Hi! I'm learning linux and I'm looking for a site that has a usable unix/linux system. This way I can have access to a *nix system when I'm at work/school/library/etc so that I can practice commands or what have you. I've googled but I haven't found anything, though I have found hackerslab.org which may be what I'm looking for but it's down at this time. Ages ago I remember seeing lots of sites like this, but now that I'm interested in this, I can't find any. Thanks!

What you are looking for is called "Shell Account's". Search google for Shell account's and also search AO for lists of Shell Account websites. One that I know is sdf.lonestar.org
They give you a shell account with different types of access levels, permissions, etc

hackerslab.org is not going to be a good place for you to begin, as you cant really do anything there besides complete levels. hackerslab.org is a "hacking" game to where you simulate cracking a computer. but you probably wouldn't enjoy it being a n00b. Hell, im not a n00b and i dont really enjoy it..

er0k: We both know you are a TOTAL newb haha, j/k with ya man
On a more serious note, hackerslab isn't really that fun anymore to me either. I don't enjoy it as much as I used to and it isn't a good place for you to practice on (unless you feel like completing challenges to enhance the amount of **** you can do). If you don't even complete the first level, the amount of commands you actually CAN perform are EXTREMELY limited. So stick with a shell account or the link provided above by lumpyporridge.

If all you wish to do is practice *nix commands, download the Knoppix boot cd and run it on your computer.
http://www.knoppix.net/
or you could run it off one of the computers at school if they are hip to it.

Another option, if you only want to practice commands, is cygwin.
