    limit the moving of icons

    anyone here know how to limit the user to move icons on the desktop in Windows XP, i mean so that its like the icons are glued to the desktop and cannot be moved but will still be active and can use them.

    If you right click on an empty section of your desktop, a box will appear. The top item is 'Arrange Icons'. In that submenue there is an option to lock 'Web Items on Desktop'. I believe that will do it for you.

    icons are glued to the desktop
    i don't think windows provides such a feature

    lock 'Web Items on Desktop'
    it will lock web items not icons

    why do you need to lock the icons on the desktop?


    Just a question? Maybe there is another solution if we know the reason!

    After this, whenever you restart Windows, your settings will return to their current state.
    This will not 'lock' the icons all it does it saves the current desktop setting for next sessions...i had a virus once which shut down my services and i couldn't move any icons (desktop and including everything else)...but so you know that it can be locked somehow lol
