After I wrote this, they corrected the quirk that caused the newbies 'Tends to Assign bar' to be on the far negative side. Now it is centered untill you actually have given antipoints that count.

thanks, so its a default....because i tried to rate something when i was first on but was told i couldn't.....i'm a little nervous because i really am not that knowledgeable about computers, but i'm going to stay and try to learn as much as i can. thanks....

another question....man i just can't get it right, either too good (to many positive antipoints -which i wasn't even aware of assigning), or feeling the world hates me. so i come on the boad for a few posts before bed, and i get this warning that i am too positive. omg, lol...hey i'm sorry, but this is a little too much. now i didn't even know i could assign these antipoints yet, so just chill here, i'll go find some negative posts ok?

and another thing.....when i click on the line that says assign points, i get a message that its diesabled.......so will you ban me if i'm too positive or just put me on death row or something, or omg, infect my computer with the self replicating worm disguised as a porn site cookie !!

The only time I know of when it's disabled is if you try to assign more than 10 in 1 day. Then it won't let you. You also can't assign the same person again until you have assigned to 10 other people. They can't disable it for assigning too many positive AP's cause then how would you balance? So I guess I don't understand what you're talking about. I also think there's something that you can't assign the same post twice ever, even if you make 100 assignments then go back and try.

h3r has made several good points here. (brought to light).

I remember the days before "Antipoints", AO was an open community, and JP was posting on a daily basis. (thus my avatar, remember?).

In some ways (drunken stuppor as I was trying to connect my VIC 20 to my Plasma TV J/K) I miss those days, as it was really out of hand , amusing for a bit but tiresome after a while.

It was after a certain point of "Freedom", that the AP system became an integral, and necessary part of the forums, as many disgruntled ppl. began (and continue) to use this site as a means to express personal desires . (Ie: I wanna be a hacker, and a Troll).

It took a certain amount of restraint for everyone, including me, yet for better or for worse I think it has improved the content of Antionline in many ways.

It is a public forum, yet now it is governed by it's members. (including moderators).

I survived the "AP scandal" (which lasted "to my knowledge" over a year in my time here) a select few members, teamed up to distribute positive (or negs) points to each other, or created Aliases to do so. (lame asses).

Little Bastages!

In many ways I think that some of the banned members regardless of their "AP Scam", provided a tremendous amount of information to fellow members. They got slapped and deservedly so, many of them are members now.

Valid members! (in some cases).

We all need a "wake up call" on a semi regular basis.

The AP system when not abused is a very efficient method for all of us to maintain a level of respect (or disrespect) for one another.

the name of "our" site ANTIONLINE tends to suggest the complete 360, regarding it's true purpose, but geezuz the initial process to subscribe explains very clearly, the intentions of the serious members, I am tired of the "how can I hack my moms porno site" questions.

The AP system exists only due to the popularity of the site, Googlewise.


I have gained massive amounts of information, that is enough. (never under-estimate a LURKER!)

Do you ppl. think I would stick around so long for Chat sessions! lol

Antipoints are a good thing and they are useful in weeding out bad members from the crop, but many people take them way to seriously (newbies mostly). I am a newbie myself and this may seem strange to some but my suggestion is to not worry about them. No matter what you post as long as you are learning SOMETHING or teaching another this site is doing what it was made to do.
