    and also help tips for administrator as soon as possible

    TIPS for any administrator.....

    First .. Only try to administer something for which you already have prior sound knowledge...

    Second.... Admins are not born in a day.. there is lot of pains and dirtying of hands which goes on to develop a true admin...

    So stop for a while and evaluate whether u have the above qualities.... believe me if u dont know solaris in depth and feel that u can administer a server through helpguides... then u r wrong..... in that case no one would the servers admns such good salaries......

    U may be able to suvive only till some serious problems dont arise on ur server.. the day it does.. then GOD SAVE YOU buddy....

    hey anjali you are preassuming that he is a Admin, he/she hasn't said that he is a admin. all he asked for was good docs on Solaris Admin. he might be studing for some exams or something . his profile says he is a student

    My observations were plainly on the above statement.....

    I didnt want to frighten him/her... But then everyone knows that it is a nightmare when you dont have a sound knowledge and you are asked to administer a server on which you have little or no experience....

    U r right that he might be preparing for some exams...... which is fine....

    But I just wanted to make him aware of the seriousness of a ADMIN job.....

    What specifically do you need help on solaris?

    http://www.solariscentral.org/ was the main site I used to go to when I admin'd my solaris/Oracle boxes a few years ago. Might be rusty but I might be able to help.

    well to be honest if it was a exam, that wouldnt qualify as "emergency help"...
    Personally it sounds like he talked his way into a job or a corner and needs a hand getting out of something.
