If you are a student of the Cisco Networking Academy Program, I would recommend the Companion Guide'S CCNA 1&2, 3&4, , third editions, to supplement the online program. I don't know how much they are in dollars, but they are (UK) £27.00 each , and money well spent.

hey jim, well another important book I would recommend here is , TCP/IP volume 1 by Comer , one of the best places to start if you are a newbie and willing to learn about networking.
Remember , the more solid your foundation here , the better for you future prosepects.

I'm attending the Networking Accedmy programm and just can say, the Cisco books you mentioned are top-notch. Sure, there are some tiny errors here and there, but I really love those books.
