    Dual booting problem

    hello,
I have pIV with 128 MB RAM, 40 GB hard disk, Mercury 845 gl mainboard. I recently installed windows ME and then i dual booted it Windows Standard 2003 server. I have Norton 2003 installed on my system. When i switched on my PC, Norton tolded me that the Master boot record was changed, it could be due to a virus and that whether it shall restore the MBR or not. I accidently said yes. And now during booting process Wndows ME starts (but before i restored my MBR there use to be two opitions for Windows ME and Windows 2003 Server). As the windows 2003 server is already installed Is there anyway that i can restore my Windows Dual booting opition.

there are several bootmanagers you can download for free, you can use them to make you system dual-boot again.

    here are a few options:

    http://www.osloader.com/download.html

    http://www.masterbooter.com/download...ersion_en.html

    http://btmgr.sourceforge.net/index.p...=download.html

    and of course google.

    Hi yuvraj

If i were you what i would do is , I would Boot my system With a Windows98 Bootable Floopy , Put my windows CD in and start the setup ( No i am not goung to install it again ) , Just let it Copy the files it takes around 15-20 minutes depending on your system Configeration. After coping files it tels you to restart . ok now you are done don't have to anything more. When you restart remember to be quick , There will be three options there

    • Windows 2003 server
    • Previous OS (windows 98 or ME whatever you have)
    • Upgrade/Repair

and The screen stays for a very short time and the last one is selected don't let the Install/Upgrade Run. You are done Buddy. and you can remove that menu item also you will have to edit the boot.ini.

And sorry just noticed your first post

or via command prompt, it's easier...

the command is bootcfg , then you can do bootcfg /? for more option or bootcfg /delete /? for more option for the /delete option.....
