    Playing MUD from school?

I'm playing this MUD located at bb3.betterbox.net:9009 and I'd like to play it while in school as well when I have breaks etc but the schools firewall blocks most ports and 9009 is blocked. What I am wondering is if there still is a way to play the MUD from school if you can work around the firewall with a telnet client set up at home or something like that. If so, could you recommend me any programs etc? The computer(s) are running Windows XP Professional.

    Thanks in advance.

    /Jon

There is a reason that the school blocks these ports. You have no need to play this at school.

If it is that important to you, talk to your admins.
Real security doesn't come with an installer.

First of all, MUD stands for Multi-User Dungeon, or Dimension, depending on who you ask. Essentially, what this means is that a number of players, from literally all around the world, can connect to one server and interact with other players and computer characters.

A MUD (Multiple User Dimension, Multiple User Dungeon, or Multiple User Dialogue) is a computer program which users can log into and explore. Each user takes control of a computerized persona/avatar/incarnation/ character. You can walk around, chat with other characters, explore dangerous monster-infested areas, solve puzzles, and even create your very own rooms, descriptions and items.

Muds are very fun, and I am in the process of creating/administering my own. However, what you are asking us to do is to help you break your schools rules. You need to reread the sites FAQs. Besides, I am very sure theres no way to do what you are wanting to do. I can not work on my mud from work, and I accept that, as that is my work place rules. I am fairly sure something I was to do to circumvent the corportate firewall would result in a well deserved termination. Same thing is going to happen to you at school, if your school is anything like they are nowadays.
