    Program uninstallation woes

    Hi, I have a question.

My thread title can be a best title I can think of at this time

My problem is after I've uninstalled a program, said program still appears in the Add/Remove Applications window.

In one case, one program's folder was deleted, without the program being "properly" uninstalled

I read somewhere that to correct this problem is to edit some registry, and I have some freeware Registry cleaners, but the problem still persists.

I guess it's more of an annoyance than a problem, but any suggestions?

You can find the programs listed in Add/Remove Software below this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnInstall

But probably the easiest way is to reinstall the program and then properly uninstalling it.

    re: uninstall problems...

Stupid question, but did you reboot? Also, what version of Windows are you running?

Regardless, here are some links that speak to your problem:

    http://www.worldstart.com/tips/share...llregtrick.htm

http://home.earthlink.net/~leetutor/...anl/addrem.htm (this one has some nice links to MS kb articles as well).

That should get you started. Post back if you're still unable to clean the uninstalled progs.

    Cheers,

Well, thank you to all who posted.

The program that was manually deleted is still there, but it doesn't matter, becuase this computer's going to be reformatted with Linux on it in a few weeks anyways.

lessthanzero, thanks for the links, but are you referring to my question being stupid? If so, I'll keep that in mind the next time I ask a question. Not all of us are uber-Windoze usorz~!!

Also, it's a Win Millenium editiion, with pretty shitty hardware (damn you Systemax, damn you..)
