Here's a good white paper site

If you're just getting into security, or even if you've already been at it for a while, check out this site; it's got lots of great info:

    http://www.sans.org/rr/

It's the best I've found so far. Tons of white papers categorized into 70 different sections.

If anyone else knows of other good sites for white papers let me know... I just can't get enough reading to quench my thirst for knowledge

IMO, white papers are the best and most reliable source for information about security.

Of course, another very good resource is the AO Security Tutorials Section. Take look at Negative's Tutorial Index to find tutorials on a specific topic.

    Have fun

I haven't visited Sans in a bit. I didn't realize they had so much great reading material. This is an awesome resource.

    Hey,

I'm glad that this helped some of you... It's a great resource that I've known about for a while but not really read much of the stuff on it. I rediscovered it just the other day and figured I should post it so other people could learn from it too.

    See ya later,

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far...

I've been toying with the idea of compiling a resource of security-related sites and posting it in this forum... Has this been done before? It would be a great starting point for people who aren't quite sure where to begin. If anyone else has some good links (doesn't have to be white papers) either PM me or post it here.

Here are some ideas I have for some general categories:

    1. Security Portals (infosyssec.com, hideaway.net, etc)

    2. White Papers (sites mentioned in this thread)

    3. "Hack me" sites (hackerslab.org etc)

    4. Security tool sites (ummm...)

    5. ?

I can't think of many categories right now... I'm quite open to suggestions.

I'm leaving for Cancun tomorrow (yay ) so I won't have access to my computer for a while. But I look forward to hearing from you when I get back.

    Later,

    mjk
