    ive forgotten what it was called but theres a bootable linux disk (not sure whether fits on CD or floppy) that is capable of repairing windows and altering the registry. I sat here thinking for several minutes now what its called but havent got a clue! only saw it the other day..

    If i remember or find the link ill let you know

    I tried booting from the winXP cd...but when I click on Repair, it still takes me to the blue screen saying REGISTRY_ER

    did you try going into safe mode and doing a system restore back to a date before you were haveing problems???
