Thought i'd post this for anyone who thinks AV software is not neaded.
Norton AntiVirus removed the attachment: your_letter.pif.The W32.Netsky.D@mm threat was detected in the attachment.
Thats the second hit in two days. I must of pissed some one off. Both emails untraceable back to source.

Wauw, 2 hits in 2 days We've blocked 17000+ Netsky.d and 11000+ Netsky.b variants in march

According to this article here, the latest variant of Netsky doesn't even need anyone to open an attachment as it uses XML (which can be rendered through an email client in a preview pane). Downright scary!
This is why i posted, as if i had No AV i would be infected.
Just a reminder to those who may doubt the use of AV.

Edit. Yes SirDice but i'm a home user how many box's are on your network and how many emails go through it. Compaired to what i recieve.

But how effective is a virus scanner against an infection via the Preview Pane? If it's in the message, then a virus scanner wont pick it up untill AFTER your infected and it creates its first file. The preview pane is a stupid idea anywayz.

Scanned before the preview, the message is downloaded by the AV and scanned before bieng passed to email client.
