    Have you looked into PGP, GnuPG, or OpenPGP?

    yea PGP is excellent,

    does anyone know anything about the PGP version that had a special background to prevent tempest snooping??

    ABIcoder...very nice, and up to 400bit encryption (Blowfish algorithm, i believe).
