    starting off in embedded programming

I've been doing web development for a few years now and recently I've really taken an interest in embedded programming. I've sharpened my C and C++ skills, but I've noticed not only locally but nationwide that it is next to impossible to find an entry level job in embedded programming. In fact, the least amount of experience I can recall required 5 years!

Out of curiosity, to any professional embedded programmers that may be here, did you start off as an embedded programmer, or is it something that your job evolved into?

I do most of my programming in bed...

Honestly the whole market is tightening up. Decent entry level jobs are getting scarce, especially in the more specialized areas, such as embedded programming.
Real security doesn't come with an installer.
