    Is there a way to install IE6.....

    I have a stand alone computer running win 98 that has no modem, I'm using it to test software.
    I have a piece of software that says it needs IE 5.5 or better to run. I have IE 6 on my main box, is there a way to transfer IE 6 to my stand alone box?
    I tried copying the c:\program files\ Internet Explorer folder from this comp onto the stand alone but it still wants to run the old version. When I try to run the setup file it tries to connect to the internet.
    I'm transfering using a burnt cd.
    Anyone know what files I need to get IE 6 to run?

    click the link at the bottom...you can run IE6 on windows 98.....if you run win95 then you can only run 5.5. So just download the setup and install IE6.

    No Modem......

    I have the setup file....... My computer has no modem......The setup wants to connect to the internet to download the files it needs.

    You usually can get IE6 by loading some ISP's disk. They usually have the latest IE on them and it loads automatically when you run the disk. Then if you don't want that particular box to access the net, just delete what ever protocall the ISP disk put on the box, but then you will have the latest IE.

    It seems that IE6 can only be installed by live connection to the internet. The same goes for DirectX.

    This new trend in installation techniques, that Microsoft obvioulsy wants to inflict upon us, has cost one of my company offices a whole working day, because we had to fix a computer at that office, and we only have a 56K modem connection at that there. At times, the download speed was as low as 2 Kb/sec.

    Q. Where can I get the full version of IE6 and DX9 so that I can put them on CDs and transport to wherever I want?

    I downloaded IE6 from http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit/6.0 Burnt it to a cd and I am installing it as I type. Thanks again!!
