This past weekend i went travelling and let the pc to my fatherīs care, so he can have a little fun since he likes to be on the net sometimes.
Okay its no shame but he saw alot of porno sites and installed "weathercast" hum, "search bar" i suspect that in those popups that appear he cliked "ok" in all of them..the result..ALOT of trash was installed and one little thing in particular is making me very "upset"..

    Here is the image:

Evrytime i open the Internet Explorer this appears, and i dont know how to remove it..i tried Bulletproof Spyware remover and nothing, i tried the registry eliminating all "Incredifind" and nothing..this "&%&%/" appears evrytime..how can i remove it??

I dont whant to use another browser or re-install windows over this..since the rest its okay..normal windows shi% but its okay..

    Please, its important :\
If u need more info, let me know.

    Thanx

    This should be in spyware/adware.

Download Spybot S&D and ad-aware. Install and update both and have them scan your PC.

Have you seen the Image he provided of the Internet Explorer ...it is sure a Spyware/Adware..........not the hame page being changed ...the Address bar says About:Blank ...........i have been myself infected by this a few times...(Damm this P0rn).........AD-Aware Should take care of it...and don't forget to use the new CWShredder 1.59.0000 it comes very handy against some of the listed home page hijacks/Cool Web Search trojans........One of the two should be able to get rid of your hijack....

Why not just use system restore? Start, programs, accessories, system tools, then system restore. Your PC automatically creates restore points. Just back it up before the date this issue happened By clicking the green dot in 'restore my computer to an earlier time' and click next. Now click on the date before this occured. Click Next and click next. When done running this application reboot PC. Have you also tried opening Internet options click on the programs tab hit the button bottom left hand corner that says "reset web settings," it will prompt you with a message click yes. This will restore Internet Explorer to the orginal factory default settings. Here is another method to resolve this issue From the desktop click start, run, in the dialog box
enter each file name from the list below click ok. (Follow same steps for each file.)

    regsvr32 shell32.dll

    regsvr32 oleaut32.dll

    regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll

    regsvr32 Mshtml.dll

    regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

When done Reboot PC. This will completely repair IE 6 for Windows XP. Hope this helps... Computernerd22

You have a CWS infection. Try downloading the CWShredder from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html and running it in safe mode. Then reboot and see how it works. It probably won't fix it, so attach a HijackThis log here and I'm sure someone can help you find the right fix.

    hi

Computernerd22 raised a Very Good Point Using System Restore Against Malware..........Theoritacally it is a very Good Suggestion........But you have to be Very carefull implementing it..........one of the bug or problem you might say with system restore is that when you remove some virus or worm with you AV they too are condidered as legitimate...system restore points and stored in the _Restore...when you restore you computer they too get restored back........i am not sure if AD-Aware/ Spybot and CWShredder removal also are treated as restore items.........if they too are then more problems......

System restore points should be carefully Choosen.....Now you have to be careful to Disable System restore Every time you decide a AV or a AD-Aware or a CWShredder scan ............and after removing the items found...again enable System Restore........

and that too you hve the risk of loosing any new legit application you installed after the System Restore point.......

And restoring IE to it's default Setting without using System restore wouldn't be much of a use..i tried it ....yes it gets rid of the Infection just for a minute and then again on next reboot ...the CWS trojan hiding in the windows Foder infected it.........

All-in-all it's like If you find a Evil in the Society you push the socity back to it's primitive stages. evil of theat tiem might struck......Might work but too risky.....

IF you do wnat to use it as a tool against malware you got to start from the very begning following setps carefully...Disabeling and enabling System restore carefully.........and before Doing a System restore do not forget to Distable System restore and then do a Complete AV scan fo your Computer..Because if the System restore is on the AV is not able to Scan _restore wher the Restore files are stored...Disabling System restore will give AV the Control to Scan this Folder tooo.....

Using System restore Just Like that One day you find a malware is not a Good Option.......frankly i wouldn't go for it at this point because i have removed a few Malware my AV and AD-Aware Found without Disabeling the System restore.......it would be my last Choice in the Fight against Malware...

You have to be very careful using this kind of method in removing malaware...and i am not sure about it's efficiency either........And it is very Much Debatable

    To Back up SwordFish_13,

The unfortunate thing is many Adware/spyware are now using methods used by virus writters.. CoolWebSearch being a "modified" Trojan.

System restore is a nice toy, to assist if an installation goes bad, or a Win HotFix foules up, or you make a bad registry change.. But when it come to MalWare (Virus/Worms/Trojans/Adware/Parasites/Bots), You need to follow the removal instructions to the letter..
Have a look around some of the forums, the people who use System Restore to Cure their virus/adware problems are continually hounded by the same bugs..

Also as the Restore folder is a System folder, you will not be able to delete the infected files in this folder.. Some recommend doing so in Safe-Mode.. yes you may be able to.. "Clean"the restore folder in Safemode.. still an Idea frought with hazards.. I get the feeling that with many people their System restore files are very valuable.. some thing to be collected and nurtured for the future.. My goodness you think it is some rare Pron collection.. If you don't know if a program or update is causing a problem with in a week.. you are not useing your computer..

It is suprising how much sweeter a machine runs if you clean the crap out of the system, disable system restore, defrag, and then re-enable system restore.. my customers think I am a Miracle worker when their puter runs so much sweeter.. And I am no Expert..

    Cheers
