I run WIN XP and the last 2 times I booted up telnet started.
Im not sure if this is a tell tale sign of a virus.

Is it trying to connect to a server or is it just booting up as if you just opened it?

... Or do you mean the service? In a command prompt type "services.msc" and in the window that pops up find the Telnet service. If it's running, stop it and if the startup type is Automatic set it to Manual.

or as obvious as it may seem type "msconfig" in the "run" box and make sure telnet is not due to startup when the computer starts up hehe .. very basic but you never know, you could also check the startup in the start menu

Don't see why he was negged, but okay. Anyways, it's in autoexec.bat because it's a hardware file for your D drive.

I was about to ask the same thing. A simple question about a popup window on startup that's a service and he gets negged?
We the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to do just about anything with almost nothing.
