That would have been true a few years ago. But some of us are running XP/2003 with 64bit processing.
Ok I'm showing my age... Windows 3.1x and older is 16 bit. You need to boot in DOS first then type win (.com) to start Windows. It's basically DOS with multitasking feature in GUI environment.

I used to use (Borland) Turbo Assembler (TASM) in DOS. To edit an assembly codeI used Sidekick, a TSR program with built in text editor. Anybody remember?

    Peace always,

Hmm. I never realized that the older Windows were 16-bit. It makes sense though. And I also forgout about the 64 bit thing.

    Thanks for correcting me.

this place is empty as hell anyways

LOL at TheSpecialist. Hey, at least you're honest and admit your "weaknesses" . Honesty is a virtue and surely a sign of a saint! How's that?

mjk, Windows 95 only runs on 386 or later right? 286 and 8086 are 16 bit. My first PC was a 286. But I had used a 8086 PC before.

    Hi TheSpecialist,
yeah i took softwares from masm32 also. I have masm32. But look buddy i need to understand 16 bit before i get to 32 bit. I think that is right. Is that ???

n i dont know what problem you have.......as you wrote this these links ..as u seemed to be a kinda angry here. (May i dont really know. Please help me out.
I really don't get why peaple need to have a preference in an OS yet alone something such as an assembler... Its so petty and stupid. I mean **** and its not hard to edit your name into a few declared bytes in some hello world program...

    DB "Blah blah blah",0

Oh and by the way unless you have some code for the masses to plagiarise then edit to sort of knock off as thier own, I really don't see why this is in code review. But oh well this place is empty as hell anyways...

Actually just about any computer can run a 16bit application intil you run into 64bit processing... by then these machines are to busy emulateing for 98% of the software thats being used today
