    Underneath The Firewall

Does anyone know of a way to see "underneath" a firewall on Windows XP, to see what program has control over a port (s). Are there any config files that list the raw links from port to program ?

    Thanks in advance.

One or some of these tools may help...

    www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml

    Worth checking out.

NOt sure if any one tool will do it but maybe a combo...??

I found tcpviewer very useful. It does what you are looking for (see previous post for download address).

Sigh. I was re-opening this thread that went suicidal. In order to prevent it from doing it again, I removed the post in question that caused the "suicide" and posts that referred to it (since it wouldn't have made sense to keep them there). So lighten up and help the original poster out instead of focusing on that. It wasn't a question of your honour but rather a question of keeping a good discussion going. Geez.

    And Doppler, you said this:

EDIT: I forgot why I originally got in this thread... Check out FPort. It should do exactly what you need. Just google for it...
(There was more but it was in reference to the "stupid" post so better to leave it out).

And I'm surprised no one mentioned ProcessExplorer (Sysinternals as well I believe). This one shows where applications are and what they are calling. Short of a Reverse Engineer, this might be one way to see what's "underneath".

He deserved it. But you still besmirched my honor.

I have one other suggestion that may be usefull.... Some firewalls (Kerio is the only one I can think of right now) will show you the aplication that is running, the port and many other intersting bits of info.
