    Wouldnt multiple people being connected casue the system to not let you alter any installed programs, becasue if someone by chance were using that program huge errors could occur. I think you may just need to be at the box itself.

    Kill at your Terminal Session, unplug the network cable so nobody can connect, change user mode and try? Did you check the service is on also?
