A massive XP security guide from NIST.gov

NIST ( http://www.nist.gov/ ) has released a massivley sized document (807k) on Windows XP security. It's an amazing peice of work that goes beyond any other source of security for XP, so I highly suggest -anyone- using XP to look at it. For further information on NIST and CSRC's use and involvement with this document, read http://csrc.nist.gov/itsec/guidance_WinXP.html

No need to say much else, as the document itself is much more important.

edit: Which reminds me. I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but might as well have it since it's use is as powerful as the above guide:

Kind of weird they release that just before SP2 Release. They could have wait 2-3 months to make it accurate for SP2.

    According to the order page:

Windows Security Update CD February 2004

Meaning it was last updated for critical security bugs in Feb 2004. While this of course doesn't cover up to July, it is better to have a cd at least up to Feb so that your computer isn't tromping online, unprotected, while trying to get these updates.

Windows Security Update CD February 2004 kind of suck. It's does the job for win98 but in my view that it... For Windows 2000, It install Sp4 and Blaster Patch Only... For XP, it's better but you still have a 20 Mg of Download after the CD anyway.
