    An answer for beginners

most of the problems I see everyone having is related to a nondestructive virus called W32/jeefo.It is everywhere.Mainly because it is an approved virus to track you.It shuts things down eventually especiall if you use file shares. There is a patch to repair it.Just do a web search for the virus name.It is a backdoor for the govt to monitor.........

    Yeah ....

    Threat Assesment:

    Infections: 0-49
    Number of sites: 0-2
    Geographical distribution: Low
    Threat containment: Easy
    Removal: Easy

sure is a very wild and dangerous virus.

And oh, this forum is for asking questions

    Welcome to AO !

    edit: that was from symantec.com

Where can you find the documention that it's a back door for the govt to monitor? it's over a year old and just about any AV should catch it before it infects a pc.

    found history,

The W32.Jeefo, also known as Win32/HLLP.Jeefo.A, PE_JEEFO.A, Win32.Hidrag, etc., is easily detectable and is known as a file infector. It increases .exe file sizes by +35K.

It is easily discovered even without using an AV. All you have to do is use REGEDIT and go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
    Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If you see the value "PowerManager"="%windir%\svchost.exe"

    You got Ďer.

Now just think about that for a minute. The G-men using something so thoroughly published, easily detected, not too difficult to remove, and patches for it have been out for over a year! Sorry there partner that dog donít hunt in these woods. Iíve tossed around several prairie pies in my time so Iím pretty good at recognizing it when I see it. (Iím glad I got my boots on.)

Won't you edit that post a bit and show us some evidence of your claims. As Spamdies asked:

Where can you find the documention that it's a back door for the govt to monitor?
    cheers

Honestly the govt. (US) doesn't need a virus to keep track of your doings... They can just get the information from you ISP's.

Really folks, I hear people complain about how they are being tracked by the govt. (camera's, library scans, my video rentals) but honestly, if they want to know I frequent network security websites and have a thing for asian porn, then thats just their time wasted.

    Just a thought

To say "None" is a pretty broad sweep of the broom. They could most certainly use, play and practice with that stuff. And, I'm doggon' sure that governments everywhere are tappin' into everything we do. They probably even know my recess monitor from 1st grade and that was 45 years ago!

With all the resources at their disposal, I would imagine that they are pretty stealthy about it though. Thus my comments:

Now just think about that for a minute. The G-men using something so thoroughly published, easily detected, not too difficult to remove, and patches for it have been out for over a year!
