    How to recover a .sit-file-password on PC???

    Hi there,

    I've got some .sit-files on my PC which are password-protected.

    Can someone help me here?

    I would think the person who password-protected it would have the password. You are referring to StuffIt files right (re: .sit)? Do you at least know the version?

    Thanks for the nice welcome

    Yep, I'm referring to StuffIt-files. I've got some .sit-files that I need to open, but they're protected by a password! When I run the files through my StuffIt-Expander I'm prompted with this password that I don't know of!

    Sorry, don't know the version eather...
    I'm a completely lost here??

    Try Belarc Advisor, is is pretty good about telling you what versions of software you have, or (I don't use stuffit) probably "help" and "about" in the expander.

    I've tried to contact the password-owner but he doesn't reply my mails, so I'm a bit ****ed here! Perhaps I could upload one of the .sit-files and let any of you gentlemen have a go at it?

    You can get an advisor to tell you the versin and maby a pass cracker can get them a file pass cracker never used them but they may work.

    Couple of pretty simple questions:-

    1. Who's drive is this? Your's, your employers...... ?
    2. You say you know the owner but he won't reply.... That indicates that he might not want you opening them. Might that be correct?
