    1954 - Alan Turing, eminent computer scientist, commited suicide after being harassed for his homosexuality. He did this by taking a 'byte' from an apple laced with cyanide.

    An apple with a bite taken out of it was combined with a rainbow (the symbol for homosexuality) to create the original Apple logo, a homage to the great man himself.

    The name Microsoft was inspired by Bill Gates' penis.
