An Indianapolis councilman’s effort to enforce the law and close down illegal gambling activities in an African-American neighborhood has been decried as a racist attack on entrepreneurial minorities, reports the Indianapolis Star.

Republican City-County Councilman Jim Bradford says he will introduce a resolution calling for police to launch an aggressive attack on so-called pea-shake houses.

But councilman Monroe Gray Jr. says the resolution is motivated by racial hatred. "It is all politically and racially motivated," he said.
