You can try go to the security tab of lower your security on the internet segment.
What is the web page you are trying to access?

Did you try to enable ActiveX and reloading the website ?

    1. Choose TOOLS from the Menu bar, then INTERNET OPTIONS.
    2. Select the SECURITY tab then the CUSTOM LEVEL button.
    3. In the dialogue box scroll down to the SCRIPTING section, ACTIVE SCRIPTING sub-section
and select ENABLE (click in the radio button).
    4. Then in the dialogue box scroll to the MICROSOFT VM section, JAVA PERMISSIONS and
select either HIGH SAFETY, MEDIUM SAFETY or LOW SAFETY.
    5. Select OK in each dialogue box.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago, found the solution at http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...ndows%20Update

Please note that you have to use IE to properly load the page.

and after you enabled activeX what marvels were you privy too...advertisments...w00t! leave it off its nothing but a security risk.

if there are sites that you just have to go to that require activeX...i can't think of any.. you can set it to prompt

If microsofts way doesnt work for their own browser, then i'd just download FireFox from here:
