All, right, I'm all for RBL and other known spammers lists, but I think this one goes a step to far:
I've just had an e-mail bounce from my home network's mail (postfix) server, which isn't even accessible publicly, I use fetchmail to retreive and sort multiple accounts dropped into my ISP's POP box.

Now what pisses me off is that while RBL lists list known spammers, DUL jumps any "presumption of innocence" and just claims "well, you hava a dynamic IP and thus you shouldn't be sending mail yourself"... WHAT A BUNCH OF TOTAL AND UTTER CRAP. Next thing you know there will be "Accepted (and paying) HTTP client's lists"?


Yeah, I know, I just have to config postfix to use my ISP's smtp for releay. This still sucks, I don't trust there mail servers, I already hate having to rely on there pop server. And this is besides the point. No where in my AUP does it say I can't make an outgoing port tcp 25 connection to another mail server.

I don't know about you (and you might want to check into it because I bet many of us have similar setups), but this makes me so mad.

Smart relay via your ISP's Mail server
There is no reason why you need to mail
directly to another Mail server.
Remember there is a "Spam War" out there....
And the biggest reason that a dynamic IP is blocked
is because most spam and viruses come from Dynamic
IP addresses.
Even I have to mail via either my main
mail server or my ISP's mail server.
Infact I beleve that if we want to stop
spam and virus passing is that if all the
ISP's out there block port 25 outbound
via their border routers except
for legit mail servers, most of the spam and
viruses would vanish......

Their smtp server sucks: it's slow and unrelyable. Mails can take up to hours to leave their queues. It also of course doesn't support starttls.

And forcing e-mail to be relayed through one's ISP's smtp server does not guarantee that it's spam free or virus free unless they filter/scan it... Which makes it slow and unrelyable.
