    lsass.exe "object name not found"

Everytime I try booting up my pc I get this error message:

    lsass.exe "object name not found"

All I can click is "ok" and then it reboots. Then it cycles through again.

I cannot get into safe mode either. This sucks, because i have a report to write. :0(. Can somebody help me?

P.S. I even tried doing the "in place upgrade" and i still get the same error message.

You should go here and do what it says. If you have problems with it post again and I'll break it down for you.

how can i run the tool if I cannot get into Windows? The only thing I get is a popup with the error message "lsass.exe object name not found" and the button "oK"? Then it reboots...

Actually get this tool and burn it save it on a disk and boot into safemode and use it. I'm assuming you have another computer if you can post here. To boot into safe mode press f8 repeatedly when you start the computer.

    He can't
I cannot get into safe mode either
What he needs to do is get his hands on the XP installation disk he has and reinstall XP. Not format and reinstall XP, just reinstall XP. That way his data and files are saved, but there is a fresh XP on there with the missing exe file.

Of course, this means you would need your legal xp install cd.

Sorry for not reading the whole post again. I think that's the second or third time I've done that. Lack of sleep. Sorry for posting useless crap.

Will I lose all "my documents" if I do a fresh install of windows xp instead of a repair? I have the option to do it without formatting the drive and it says it will leave everything intact....?...?

By reinstalling but not formating, your documents and settings should transfer over without any loss or problem.

Hopefully you have good backups anyway. You should always back up your importent documents and files, at least once a week. I know that most people don't, and if they transfer without a hitch or if you end up losing some of them, consider it as a wakeup call and start backing up your important files and documents on a regular basis just for situations like this.

na, no backups over here. I am thinking i am going to go ahead and boot up knoppix and move my files over to my server. I cannot slave a harddrive because it is a laptop.

When the reboot dialog window comes up, go to: Start > Run, then type 'Shutdown -a' That will stop the reboot process, and you can download the sasser removal tool here: http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/da...oval.tool.html
