    automatically close thread

Ennis made this clear today .. what if after 6 months or so (doesnt matter how long we chooe) of a thread not being posted into it gets automatically closed. This would prevent old and obsolete posts being brought back up.

This has probably been suggested somewhere before.

The only problem I can think of is what if some thread has relevance 6 months from now? It's happened before with security related threads, and I can remember the thread in addicts where you announce yourself to the world (forum) has come up several times after being apparently dead.

I just thought it might be a good way to stop people from giving advice to questions that were asked 2 years ago etc. .. just to get their post count up.. anyway i put the idea forward whether it is like or implemented is open for discussion

Damn, isn't that what moderators and APs are for?

well it would make the moderators job easier i suppose plus if they go around closing all the old, unused threads that post whores would bring back up to get posts they would be pretty busy ..
