    need help with my dvd/writer

I have a LG GSA-4082b DVD writer, but he causes some troubles. I cannot write DVD of any types!!!

I search on the web for some solution and found nothing. My problem is when i write a DVD, the program taht i use (copyToDVD 3) give me a error ( writeerror detected at sector 0(16)).

I try use copyToDVD 2, but same result. I update my drvier and change nothing to the result.

I try with many different DVD and many differents files, but the result never changes always the same error.

If someone know what i can try now, please answer me.

Could be a bad DVD Writer.

Maybe you should take it back and get a different one and see if thats the problem?

Did you try a different brand of CDs?

Some drives and cd-brands don't play well together. Some CDs might work on drive brand A but not on a drive of brand B.

Also take note of +R and -R. Some drives can burn both types while others can do only one or the other.

OK............firstly, check out what SirDice has suggested, that is, the +R/-R thing..........then:

    1. Did the software come with the device? sometimes they are make/model specific, and you did say that you had used two different versions?

    2. If the device also burns CDs, will it do that?............that is older technology, and would be a test of cheyenne's suggestion that the device is defective...........

    3. Did it ever work, or has this problem just happened?

    4. Will it read/play DVDs?

    5. What Operating System are you using?

    Bon chance

The software isn't the problem, because i write many DVD on LG4081b with it. But now i change for model lg 4082b and i can write cd and i write 1 DVD-R before the problem happens.

    My system is winXP Pro.

I can still read/play DVD and cd.

The DVD writer is for the format i want to write DVD-R.

I try to write cd and that works perfectly, so the problem is to write DVD.

No i don't have any other brand of DVD to try it, but after i have intall it i burn 1 DVD my brand type before all the probleme begin.

And the DVD i use is the one that my computer shop(where i buy my DVD writer) sell.

But now, the problem have change a little bit, i can make like all thing to burn a DVD and the program make like if he burn one, but when i read my DVD after the burn, they have nothing on it?

    OK,

Thank you for your replies..........would you please try these:

    1. Take one of the apparently "blank" DVDs that you burnt to another machione with a DVD reader, and see what it does.

    2. Uninstall and reload the software that came on the CD in the writer's box.

Please let me know what happens................this sort of problem is not that unusual in my experience, but the solutions are quite varied.

We need to investigate a bit more

    1. The DVD wasn't burn if i try it in another DVD for read.

    2. I have already do it and nothing have change.

I have, also, try my DVD writer in another machine (to be sure that it is not my machine the problem) and the same go up.

Now, the only solution i found is to back it to my computer shop for they give me another one.
