www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/htlogtutorial.html+hijackthis+tutorial&hl=en]go here[/URL] , and learn what should be there and what shouldn't be.

It's not too hard to determine problems if you take the time to go through the log step
    by step.

Use google to get info on suss items, rule out any that should be there, and double check
    anything you plan to delete.

You are using an outdated version of HJT:
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/hijackthis.zip

I don't see anything right off hand that should be causing a problem. Are you having any problems?

Telling us what the symptoms are (if there are any) is important. Doctors don't treat patients until they know what's wrong in the first place.

    C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6\Ad-aware.exe
You're running the older version of Ad-aware. The newest one is Ad-aware SE

Also make certain you're running the newest Spybot version 1.3

    And answer Groovicus's question:
    Are you having any problems?
That should help us to help you.

hijackthis will not tell you the state of your processor. it could show if something is running that might be tying up your processing time but it wount say anything about how its functioning.

there are some tools like 'sawmill' that test your hardware including yourprocessor but afaik hijackthis isnt one of them

    Unhappy

    groovicus

I downloaded the hjt file, but it is the same version number (1.98.0.2) that I had before. Am I missing something?

As to symptoms, I have a lot of the same issues, like DSO that keep showing up whenever I run a check, even if I just deleted it immediately before. Also, I get attempted hijack warnings on some of the spyware checks I run...frequently.

My 20-something son has been using my CPU a lot lately, and I notice these things show up after he has been online for a while. They were here again today.

After the last problem I had with an attempted CWS hijacking (which you helped me with last June, I believe, groovicus) I now have Ad-Aware, SpyBot, HJT, SpySweeper and my regular McAfee firewall protection (they all seem to find different things, even when used in sequential scans). Maybe overkill, I don't know. But I don't want to have to go through the agony again of that CWS fiasco earlier this summer.

The Spybot DSO alert is simply a bug within the program. Ignore it.

Also, could you be a bit more specific with the "hijack attempts" that have you concerned? Apparently they're not succesful.....

As for your HijackThis log version, here's the one you posted earlier:
    Logfile of HijackThis v1.97.7
You may want to post a newer log with the newer version.
