The New Internet
The internet is becoming a part of everyone's life. This jungle is getting bigger and bigger .Its
so filled with full of s*** that searching for something is hard as looking for a needle in a
haystack. The internet is filled with so much porn and spam that parents hesitate to let their
kids use the internet.I guess its inevitable . I believe that the only solution to all this is to
start a new kind of centralised Internet...an internet with its own ethics ( started from a
scratch). Some of you (or Most) may find this dumb and a really mammooth task. I don't think
its late to think about a new internet as the current internet has yet a long way to go.For
those who don't agree with me don't you think such a new network should be started for
people like scientists, concerned parents, technically inclined dudes etc... ??

If they do they need to have new protocols. These were designed way back when, they are in serious need of an update from a security standpoint. I'll start the new internet from my house :P.

Nothing new is easier until it is just a modified copy of old one. just a thought .
but if i remember correctly then i think this internet too was started for scientists, geeks and from then it flowed to present situation.
Problem are always there , it is upto us how we deal with them. You can have smart solutions and so on . It is all situational, as i think about it.
It\'s all about sense of power.

The internet came into being as a way in which the US military could launch their weapons durring the cold war even after suffering a nuclear blast. They needed a de-centralised network where even if one computer on the chain was knocked out the following links wouldn't collapse and cause a break down in communication.
But as it grew it became too exspensive for the military to justify it - so they passed it onto the Universities to develop.
From there it grew into what we know as the internet today.
The development of a new internet would not only need another set of new protocols but it would also need to be adopted by colleges, universities, business etc etc
Now why would they spend the money in retraining staff, changing equipment etc etc for a system which would be inferior in the volume of information it contained compared to what they currently have?
Well your argumnet is that it would be more controlled - without porn etc.....well thats why companies etc have intranets - plus all the unwanted material can simply be blocked from entering the company/university/etc by a good admin.
What your suggesting is not going to happen - until it can truely offer something which has a huge advantage over the present system.

The internet is not a program as you make it sound. You can't upgrade to Internet 2.0..and what would this 'new' internet have that the 'old' internet does not? Or are you requesting, remove all the websites and start over? Will you be the one who will call all ISPs worldwide to tell them "Hey, upgrade to Internet 2.0 and remove all accounts"....?

I didn't suggest an upgrade .. These two network of networks can co-exist.

It already exists. How about 100 megabit connectivity, no spam
no script kiddies... and it's invitation only.

I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.
