SMTP server issues
Good evening; I am going to make this short and sweet, and I'll explain it like I did on IRC, since I'm to lazy to re-write it up:
<microburn> Why can't I telnet into any SMTP servers? Or access them at all?
<microburn> 25 is set though my router and IPTables./
<microburn> *.
<microburn> I even disabled IPTables and tried.
<microburn> For exmapl, it sits like this:
<microburn> unerror:/etc/postfix # telnet gsmtp171.google.com 25
<microburn> Trying 64.233.171.27...
<microburn> For any telnet address.
<microburn> *SMTP address.
<microburn> It works on neither computer.,
<microburn> *.
<microburn> Some of my mailq output:
<microburn> C01AD80202 1231 Sat Sep 11 00:00:39 wwwrun@unerror.unerror.com
<microburn> (connect to mail2.zoneedit.com[216.40.250.211]: Connection timed out)
<microburn> microburn@unerror.com
I am trying to use the postfix MTA, however, I do not believe that is the problem, I cannot telnet into any SMTP addresses on either of my computers here. My router says it is forwarding the post, but I cannot access it. Any one have any ideas?
I forgot to give you my postfix mail.info file...

Perhaps your ISP is banning outgoing SMTP connections other than those to their own servers?
To try to crack down on spam coming from zombies on their networks?

I don't believe my ISP blocks anything, but just to make sure, I tried to telnet into their SMTP server, and no luck again. I'm thinking it would be something to do with the router (D-Link DI-704UP), any ideas?

Put a packet sniffer on it and see if you even get a reply. If you do let's see what the returning packets say..... Sanitize them and drop them in here and I'll see if I can work out what is going on.
Don\'t SYN us.... We\'ll SYN you.....
